[05-23-2024] At Least One Person Injured Following Fiery Multi-Vehicle Collision in Gold RiverAt least one person was injured following a fiery multi-vehicle collision in Gold River, Sacramento County, on Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 4:00 p.m. on Sunrise and Gold Country Boulevards, about a mile south of Fair Oaks. 

Authorities stated that the male driver of a Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Sunrise Blvd, while the woman driving a Lexus SUV was heading westbound on Gold Country Blvd. The Lexus SUV made a right turn and approached a red light, resulting in a collision with the Nissan. As a result, the Nissan swerved to the left, hit a Kia, and caught fire. 

Police said that the man in the Nissan was able to exit the vehicle before it was entirely engulfed in flames. He sustained minor injuries, while the other drivers involved were not injured in the crash.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. 

No further information was released. The crash remains under investigation.
