[05-22-2024] At Least Five People Injured After Pursuit Led To Reckless Driving in HesperiaAt least five people were injured after a pursuit led to reckless driving in Hesperia on Wednesday afternoon, May 22, 2024. 

According to the Hesperia Police Department, the crash occurred around 2:54 p.m. at the intersection of Ranchero Road and Escondido Drive. 

Authorities stated that a deputy conducted a traffic stop on 26-year-old Ramon P. of Hesperia, who was driving a gold Nissan. However, the driver refused to stop and sped off, initiating a pursuit with the responding officials. 

The pursuit was then terminated as the suspect crashed into another vehicle, causing it to overturn and land on its roof. Five occupants were inside the other car, and all of them were transported to the hospital for immediate medical assessment. Initial reports show that there are no non-life-threatening injuries sustained by the victims. 

Police said that the driver of the Nissan was injured and treated at the scene. He was then taken into custody for felony charges under HS11351 and VC2800.2(A). The suspect is currently being held at the High Desert Detention Center. 

The crash remains under investigation. No further details were provided at this time.
