[05-19-2024] Male Pedestrian Critically Injured After Getting Hit by Vehicle in FontanaA male pedestrian was critically injured after getting hit by a vehicle in Fontana late Sunday night, May 19, 2024.

According to the Fontana Police Department, the pedestrian vs. vehicle crash happened at about 11:19 p.m. on Foothill Boulevard, west of Oleander Avenue.

FPD said that a westbound vehicle struck the pedestrian as he was crossing Foothill Boulevard from the roadway’s south side to the north side. Notably, the incident took place just outside the crosswalk with both the eastbound and westbound traffic having the green light.

The pedestrian, who remains unnamed, reportedly sustained head and leg injuries. He was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, wherein he was listed as in critical condition at the time of writing.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the authorities. FPD confirmed that the driver was not intoxicated by either drugs or alcohol when the incident occurred. 

Foothill Boulevard’s westbound lanes were blocked off from Oleander Avenue to Citrus Avenue as a precaution.

FPD is still investigating the accident.
