[05-18-2024] One Person Killed, Another Injured Following Two-Vehicle Speeding Crash in BurbankOne person was killed, while another was injured following a two-vehicle speeding crash in Burbank late Saturday night, May 18, 2024.

According to the Burbank Police Department, the deadly incident occurred at about 11:15 p.m. along Vanowen Street, just west of Hollywood Way.

The crash involved a white Toyota Corolla and a white Scion. BPD said that both vehicles were speeding along eastbound Vanowen Street when they collided near Hollywood Way, careening into a nearby fire hydrant and electric pole.

Upon arrival, officers found the male Scion driver in the roadway after being ejected from the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene.

The Toyota driver, meanwhile, sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision and received on-scene treatment from the medical responders. 

It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the fatal accident on top of the excessive speeds. Police have yet to name both the deceased and injured person involved.
