[05-18-2024] Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle In West BakersfieldA pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in west Bakersfield on Saturday night, May 18, 2024.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the fatal incident occurred at about 8:43 a.m. on the 10000 block of Hageman Road.

Upon arrival, officers found a pedestrian lying in the roadway with critical injuries. Despite the life-saving efforts by the responding medical personnel, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have yet to release the identity of the deceased.

BPD said that the victim was hit by a Toyota Highlander traveling eastbound on Hageman Road. The driver of the Toyota reportedly remained on the scene and cooperated with the police. It appears that the driver was uninjured.

No further details were provided. The authorities are still gathering all the necessary evidence to determine the cause of the accident and the factors that may have led up to it.
