[05-17-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – One Killed, Three Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Hawthorne

One person was killed, and three others were injured following a multi-vehicle crash in Hawthorne on Sunday morning, May 17, 2026.

According to the Hawthorne Police Department, the collision occurred around 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Inglewood Avenue.

Authorities stated that a driver of a blue SUV collided with another vehicle, triggering a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles. Two people trapped inside one of the vehicles had to be extricated by Los Angeles County firefighters.

Four individuals were transported to hospitals, including one person who was later pronounced dead. Another victim remains in extremely critical condition. The identities of those involved have not been released.

Police have not confirmed whether speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
