[05-16-2024] El Dorado County, CA – Driver Killed, Two Others Injured Following Two-Vehicle Collision Along Forni Road

[05-16-2024] Driver Killed, Two Others Injured Following Two-Vehicle Collision Along Forni RoadA driver was killed, and two others were injured following a two-vehicle collision in El Dorado County on Thursday afternoon, May 16, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Missouri Flat and Forni roads. 

Authorities stated that a Honda Del Sol, driven by a 57-year-old man from Pollock Pines, was traveling eastbound and made a left turn at the intersection. Meanwhile, the 47-year-old man in a 2004 Chevy Silverado was driving southbound at around 45 mph when he failed to see the red light, causing his vehicle to collide with the Hond’s left side. 

The driver of Honda suffered head injuries and was declared dead after being transported to Marshall Hospital. His passenger, identified as a 19-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries. The driver of Chevy also suffered from minor injuries. 

The identities of the victims were not available at this time. There were no arrests made following the collision. DUI does not appear to be a factor, but distracted driving is being investigated. 

No further information was released. The investigation continues.
