[05-15-2024] 59-Year-Old Bicyclist Seriously Injured Following Bicycle Vs. Vehicle Collision in CeresA 59-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured following a bicycle vs. vehicle collision in Ceres on Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2024.

According to the Ceres Police Department, the accident happened just after 3:00 p.m. along Mitchell Road, north of Hatch Road.

Police said that a 59-year-old man riding his bike eastbound along Mitchell Road at Adrien Way on the center median got hit by a vehicle traveling northbound along the same roadway. 

The bicyclist reportedly suffered major injuries as a result of the crash and was rushed to a local hospital for further medical care. He remains in critical condition at the time of this writing.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim stayed on the crash site and cooperated with the authorities.

Mitchell Road was blocked off for several hours following the incident as the police did their work.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities.
