Two people were killed in a solo vehicle crash in Elk Grove on Wednesday morning, May 13, 2025.
According to the Elk Grove Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 5:03 a.m. on northbound Waterman Road, just south of Sheldon Road.
A 21-year-old male driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and struck a light pole on the east side of the roadway.
Both the driver and a 21-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities closed the roadway following the crash but fully reopened it by 10:45 a.m.
Police stated that the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Speed is believed to have contributed to the collision, though it is still unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
