One person sustained injuries in a felony hit-and-run crash involving three vehicles on southbound Interstate 15 past Temecula on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. near the U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoint on the Temecula side of the border.
A black sedan allegedly rear-ended a white Lexus and then collided with a black SUV, which overturned and landed on the right shoulder embankment.
CHP Officer Mike Lassig reported that the suspect vehicle, a black sedan with significant front-end damage, fled the scene heading southbound. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle and the suspect involved.
Emergency responders observed people walking around at the scene, and one individual reported an injury. However, no hospital transports were made. CHP noted that a tow truck responding to the crash was involved in a separate follow-up collision, briefly delaying cleanup efforts.
