A 38-year-old man died following a crash involving an electric scooter and a pickup truck in Watsonville, Santa Cruz County, on Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2026.
According to Watsonville police, the incident was reported around 1:50 p.m. on Second Street just west of Rodriguez Street.
Authorities stated that the man was riding an electric scooter when he entered the roadway and was struck by a Dodge Big Horn pickup truck traveling on Second Street. Emergency responders arrived to find the victim seriously injured in front of Watsonville Fire Station 1.
The rider was transported to an out-of-county trauma center, where he later died from his injuries. Officials reported that the female driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation remains ongoing.
