At least one person was killed following a multi-vehicle crash in San Jose early Sunday morning, May 5, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. along southbound Highway 101, south of North Mathilda Avenue.
The total number of vehicles and people involved was not disclosed. CHP hasn’t confirmed any other injuries or deaths yet.
All lanes of southbound Highway 101 were blocked for a few hours as investigators did their work. They were all reopened at about 4:55 a.m.
The identity of the deceased victim was not immediately available. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident and the factors that may have led up to it.
