[05-02-2025] Driver and Two Construction Workers Injured After Crash in Closed Section of 101 Freeway Near West Main StreetA driver and two construction workers were injured after a vehicle crashed into a closed section of the southbound 101 Freeway just north of West Main Street in an unincorporated area of Ventura County late Friday night, May 2, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 10:51 p.m. while CalTrans subcontractors were performing maintenance work in an active closure.

Authorities said a 21-year-old Oxnard man driving a blue Toyota entered the closed area and struck a construction vehicle, which was then pushed into two nearby workers.

The driver sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. His condition remained unclear as of Saturday morning. A 24-year-old Bell resident was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, while a 54-year-old Artesia man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Authorities confirmed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash. 

The incident remains under investigation.
