A pedestrian suffered a serious head injury after being struck in a hit-and-run crash in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter early Friday morning, May 2, 2025.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:10 a.m. on G Street between Fourth and Fifth avenues.
A 52-year-old man was pushing a cart when he was hit by an eastbound black vehicle. The driver fled the scene, leaving the man lying in the roadway.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a hospital for treatment. His identity has not yet been released. Authorities said the suspect vehicle likely sustained damage to its passenger side.
Investigators are asking the public for assistance in identifying the driver or vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to contact the SDPD Traffic Division at (858)-495-7823 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for tips that lead to an arrest.
The crash remains under investigation.
