[05-02-2024] Passenger Killed, Driver Injured Following Vehicle Vs. Forklift Collision in Santa MariaA passenger was killed, and a driver was injured following a vehicle vs. forklift collision in Santa Maria on Thursday afternoon, May 2, 2024. 

According to the Santa Maria Police Department, the crash happened around 3:00 p.m. on the 3000 block of Skyway Drive at the intersection with Hangar Street. 

Authorities stated that a blue Dodge pickup truck was traveling on Skyway Drive when it collided with the forks of the forklift. The passenger of the pickup truck was pronounced dead in the crash.  

Police said the driver of the pickup truck sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center. The name of the driver was not immediately available. 

The deceased victim’s identity was not disclosed pending notification of relatives. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the authorities. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No further details were available.
