[05-02-2024] One Elderly Woman Killed, Another Critically Injured After Hit-And-Run Crash in University ParkOne elderly woman was killed, while another was critically injured after a hit-and-run crash in University Park, Los Angeles, on Thursday afternoon, May 2, 2024.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the deadly incident occurred at around 1:20 p.m. near the West Adams Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue intersection.

Police said that a vehicle was backing out of a private driveway when it struck the two elderly women and then fled eastbound on West 25th Street, leaving the victims lying on the road. The two grandmothers reportedly just got out of the bus and were walking home on the sidewalk when they were run over.

The victims were later identified as a 73-year-old mother of five, Estella G., and her 83-year-old cousin, Maria O. Estella G. was pronounced dead at the scene, while Maria O. was sent to a nearby hospital after sustaining critical injuries.

Police are said to be looking for a white van. The circumstances behind the fatal collision are still under investigation.
