[05-01-2024] San Bernardino County, CA – Multiple Injuries Reported After Two Crashes Involving Bicyclist in Hesperia

[05-01-2024] Multiple Injuries Reported After Two Crashes Involving Bicyclist in HesperiaMultiple injuries were reported after two crashes involving a bicyclist in Hesperia in the early hours of Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

According to the Hesperia Police Department, the first traffic incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and I Avenue.

Police said that a Chevrolet Avalance driving westbound on Main Street struck a bicyclist who was crossing the roadway. The bicyclist, who remains unnamed, suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was airlifted to a trauma center. The driver, who was uninjured at this point, remained at the scene as the authorities arrived.

While the investigation into the initial collision ensued, a second crash occurred involving the same Chevrolet. A Toyota Camry collided with the Chevy while its driver was gathering items from the vehicle. Allegedly, the Toyota driver was distracted as the car approached the scene of the first crash.

The occupants of the Toyota and the Chevy driver sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. It is unclear how many were inside the Toyota when the second incident happened.

Further details were not available at this time, and the authorities are still gathering all the necessary information to determine the factors leading up to the two consecutive collisions.

Investigations are underway. Potential witnesses are encouraged to contact the authorities.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
