[04-30-2024] Eighteen People Hospitalized, Several Others Injured After Train Vs. Bus Collision Along Exposition BoulevardEighteen people were hospitalized, and several others were injured after a train vs. bus collision in Los Angeles late Tuesday morning, April 30, 2024.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the major accident happened at about 11:54 a.m. along Exposition Boulevard between Normandie Avenue and Figueroa Street near the USC Campus.

A University of Southern California transport bus collided with a Metro E line train traveling from Santa Monica to East Los Angeles. It is said that around 150 passengers were on board the train when the incident occurred.

LAFD confirmed that several of the train passengers sustained injuries. Sixteen of them were taken to a local hospital in fair condition, while 37 were medically evaluated on the scene and were released after.

The two occupants of the USC bus, the driver and a passenger, were also hospitalized. One sustained minor injuries, while the other sustained moderate injuries. Both required extrication by LAFD personnel.

Additional information was not immediately available, and the authorities are still gathering all the necessary details to determine the factors leading up to the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
