[04-29-2026] San Diego County, CA – Runner Killed After Being Struck by Nissan Frontier in Borrego Springs

A 25-year-old man was killed after being struck by a Nissan Frontier in Borrego Springs in San Diego County, on Wednesday morning, April 29, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 5:38 a.m. on Di Giorgio Road.

A 61-year-old man from Borrego Springs was driving a 2011 Nissan Frontier northbound at 50 mph when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was running northbound in the same lane.

The 25-year-old man was reportedly running within the roadway in low-light conditions and was not wearing reflective clothing or lighting. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan was not injured, and alcohol or drugs are not considered factors in the crash.

The CHP urges the public to use sidewalks when available and wear visible clothing to reduce the risk of accidents.
