[04-27-2024] San Diego County, CA – Male Rider Killed, Female Passenger Injured After Motorcycle Rear-Ended Pickup Truck in I-8

[04-27-2024] Male Rider Killed, Female Passenger Injured After Motorcycle Rear-Ended Pickup Truck in I-8A male rider was killed, while a female passenger was injured, after a motorcycle rear-ended a pickup truck in San Diego on Saturday afternoon, April 27, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the freeway accident happened at around 3:30 p.m. along the eastbound Interstate 8, west of the Rosecrans Street offramp.

CHP said that an unnamed man riding a black Yamaha motorcycle with his 19-year-old female passenger was traveling along eastbound I-8 at an unknown rate of speed while splitting lanes when it suddenly struck the back of a stopped Ford F-150 at the No. 2 lane. The pickup truck was reportedly stopped in heavy traffic.

Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected following the rear-end crash. The rider was pronounced dead after violently hitting the back of the vehicle. At the same time, his passenger was transported to a nearby hospital due to the significant injuries she sustained after getting slammed into the roadway.

Meanwhile, the Ford driver, later identified as a 59-year-old man from Murrieta, remained at the scene and cooperated with the responding officers. He appears to be uninjured.

There is a pending toxicology report conducted on the motorcycle driver to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident.

No further details were immediately available. CHP is still on the case.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.

  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
