Jeffrey Sperbeck, a sports agent and longtime friend of NFL legend John Elway, died following a golf cart accident during an after-party for the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in La Quinta. The incident occurred on Saturday night, April 26, 2025.
According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, Sperbeck, a 62-year-old resident of San Clemente, suffered a traumatic head injury and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. He was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning, April 30, 2025, reportedly after being removed from life support.
Published reports indicated that Sperbeck was a passenger in a golf cart driven by Elway around 7:00 p.m. Saturday in the 53000 block of Humboldt Boulevard. Sperbeck reportedly fell from the back of the moving cart, sustaining the fatal head injury.
Authorities have not confirmed whether alcohol or other factors contributed to the incident. The fatality remains under investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sperbeck and Elway shared a longstanding professional and personal relationship, having worked together since 1990. They later partnered in a winery venture in 2013.
