[04-24-2024] Tulare County, CA – 21-Year-Old Man Killed After Suspected DUI Crash Involving Wrong-Way Driver Along Highway 99

A 21-year-old man was killed after a suspected DUI crash involving a wrong-way driver in Tulare County early Wednesday morning, April 24, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred at about 3:10 a.m. along Highway 99, north of Betty Drive.

A 20-year-old driver named Saul Saldana A. was reportedly heading south in a 2015 Dodge Charger in the northbound lanes of the highway for unknown reasons.

The Dodge driver continued to travel the wrong way when he collided with a 2022 Honda Civic driven by a 21-year-old Porterville man.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Lisandro S., was pronounced dead just days before his 22nd birthday.

The authorities arrested Saul A. for suspected DUI. Investigations into the fatal crash are underway.
