[04-20-2025] One Dead After BMW Catches Fire in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101One man died following two car crashes, including a fiery collision, on Highway 101 in San Francisco early Sunday morning, April 20, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident began at around 3:05 a.m. when a BMW sedan was involved in a solo crash and came to a stop in the first lane of Highway 101, north of the Paul Avenue off-ramp.

While the vehicle was blocking the lane, a Honda sedan crashed into it. The impact caused the BMW to catch fire before fire crews arrived.

Emergency responders extricated the BMW driver from the burning vehicle and transported him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 3:39 a.m.

CHP said the Honda driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to have played a role in the second crash.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the initial crash.
