[04-16-2026] Alameda County, CA – Pedestrian Dies After Hit-and-Run Crash in Oakland

A 39-year-old pedestrian died after being struck in a hit-and-run crash in East Oakland on Thursday evening, April 16, 2026.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 5:55 p.m. at the intersection of East 12th Street and 22nd Avenue.

The pedestrian, identified as Ambrose H. of Oakland, was in a crosswalk when he was struck by an Infiniti traveling eastbound on East 12th Street. The driver continued without stopping.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

Police have since recovered the vehicle involved, but no arrests have been made. Authorities have not determined whether speed, alcohol, or drugs were factors in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
