[04-09-2024] Riverside County, CA – 84-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle Near Salton Sea

An 84-year-old male pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Riverside County on Tuesday night, April 9, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Avenue 70 and Pierce Street, near the Salton Sea.

CHP said that the elderly man was walking into the traffic lanes when he got hit by a vehicle being driven by a 22-year-old. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have yet to release the names of both the pedestrian and the driver. It is unclear what the deceased was doing on the road prior to the accident.

No further details were immediately released, and the authorities are still gathering all the necessary information to determine the factors leading to the incident.
