[04-08-2026] Glenn County, CA – Driver Causes Chain-Reaction Crash Involving Two Big Rigs on I-5

A driver caused a chain-reaction crash involving two big rigs on Interstate 5 near Willows in Glenn County, early Wednesday morning, April 8, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on northbound I-5, north of the Willows Rest Area.

The driver briefly looked away from the road to cough and drifted into oncoming traffic, colliding directly with a semi-truck.

Unable to avoid the crash, the driver hit the back of the truck, disabling the car and knocking out its electrical system, leaving it without lights in the slow lane. The driver exited the car and moved to the shoulder for safety.

A short time later, another big rig traveling in the same lane did not see the car without its lights and crashed into it.

Fortunately, all drivers involved in the collisions walked away uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing.
