A man in his 20s was hospitalized after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Adeline Street in South Berkeley on Tuesday night, April 7, 2026.
According to the police, the incident was reported just after 8:10 p.m. at the intersection of Adeline and Harmon streets.
Firefighters found the pedestrian on the ground at the scene, having lost consciousness and not recalling the crash.
Authorities said the pedestrian was struck by a driver traveling at about 40 mph, causing him to be thrown approximately 15 feet. He was transported to Highland Hospital, the regional trauma center, with injuries.
Officers believe the driver may have been in a dark-colored sedan. Based on initial reports, the pedestrian is expected to survive.
The investigation is ongoing.
