[04-05-2025] Santa Cruz County, CA – 19-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed, Woman Injured in Collision on Highway 1

[04-05-2025] 19-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed, Woman Injured in Collision on Highway 1 A 19-year-old man from Milpitas was killed, and a woman sustained minor injuries following a collision between a motorcycle and a car on Highway 1 northwest of Santa Cruz on Saturday afternoon, April 5, 2025.

The incident occurred around 12:52 p.m. at the intersection of southbound Highway 1 and Laguna Road, leading to a closure of the highway in both directions for several hours.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a yellow 2005 Suzuki motorcycle and a red 2011 Mini Cooper. The motorcycle reportedly collided with the rear of the Mini Cooper.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained major injuries. He was declared dead at the scene.

The 24-year-old woman driving the Mini Cooper was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to the CHP.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and it is currently unclear if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
