A crash on northbound Interstate 5 near Carmel Mountain Road in San Diego County caused significant delays for commuters on Friday morning, April 3, 2026.
The incident, first reported around 7:05 a.m., temporarily closed several lanes.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the HOV lane, two left lanes, and the middle lane were blocked while crews responded to the scene.
The right two lanes remained open, but traffic quickly backed up in the area. Drivers were advised to expect delays and consider alternative routes.
By 7:30 a.m., CHP confirmed that all lanes had reopened to traffic. No additional details, including the number of vehicles involved or whether there were any injuries, have been released.
