[04-03-2025] Forklift Operator Killed After Being Crushed by Pallet of Wine at Windsor Storage FacilityA forklift operator was killed after being crushed by a pallet of wine at a wine storage facility located in the 1000 block of Shiloh Road in Windsor, Sonoma County, on Thursday afternoon, April 3, 2025.

According to Windsor Police Sgt. Jason Little, the incident occurred around 12:59 p.m. when emergency crews from the Sonoma County Fire District were dispatched to the scene.

Investigators believe the 40-year-old man was operating a forklift on a stack of full wine pallets, each weighing approximately 3,000 pounds.

The forklift reportedly became wedged into the pallets, prompting the operator to exit the vehicle to inspect it. A pallet then fell on top of him, resulting in fatal injuries.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and no witnesses were present during the incident.

The Sonoma County Coroner Bureau’s medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death. The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) will lead the investigation.

Authorities stated that no foul play is suspected at this time.
