[03-23-2026] Glenn County, CA – Six Friends Injured When Runaway Big Rig Wheels Strike Van Near Willows

Six friends sustained minor injuries when runaway wheels from a big rig trailer struck their van near Willows in Glenn County on Monday morning, March 23, 2026.

According to the Willows Area California Highway Patrol, the group was heading south when dual wheels from a northbound trailer broke free and rolled into their lane, striking the side of their van with severe force.

The driver managed to steer the van to the shoulder without losing control, preventing a rollover. All six occupants of the van sustained only minor injuries.

The friends were returning from a getaway in Mount Shasta, traveling home from various locations across the United States and Mexico.
