[03-10-2025] 19-Year-Old Driver Dies After Crashing Into Power Pole Near LamontA 19-year-old man died from his injuries a day after crashing into a power pole near Lamont, Kern County, early Monday morning, March 10, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the crash around 12:00 a.m. on Panama Road, west of Fairfax Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was traveling eastbound in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu when, for unknown reasons, he veered off the roadway and collided with a power pole. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn, coming to rest on its side.

Emergency personnel extricated the driver from the vehicle and transported him to Kern Medical with severe injuries. On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, officials confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries.

Two passengers in the Chevrolet, an 18-year-old and a 3-year-old child, were uninjured.

Authorities have not determined if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
