Three adults and a 6-year-old child were injured in a head-on crash caused by a wrong-way driver in Martinez, Contra Costa County, on Monday night, March 9, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 11:15 p.m. on eastbound State Route 4 between Cummings Skyway and McEwen Road.
A vehicle was reported traveling west in the eastbound lanes of SR-4 and ultimately collided with at least three other vehicles, one of them head-on.
An air ambulance was requested and landed at the crash site to evacuate the 6-year-old child who was injured in the collision. Three adults were also injured, two critically, and first responders had to pry two of them out of the wreckage.
The incident remains under investigation.
