Two people were rushed to a hospital with major injuries after a two-car collision on Highway 299 near Weaverville in Trinity County on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just past noon when a Toyota Prius, occupied by Gage Y. and an unnamed juvenile, failed to stop at a stop sign on Little Brown’s Creek Road before turning onto Highway 299.
A Ford F-150, driven by Spencer B., collided broadside with the Prius. All three individuals reside in Weaverville.
The Toyota driver suffered a major head injury, while the juvenile sustained a broken leg and ribs. Both had to be extricated from their vehicle and were transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. The driver of the Ford declined treatment at the scene.
The collision is still under investigation, and CHP stated that drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors.
