A young skier was airlifted to a hospital after a collision with a snowmobile at Palisades Tahoe in Placer County on Saturday afternoon, March 1, 2025.
According to resort officials, the incident occurred around noon near the Big Blue lift, a popular area for beginner skiers and snowboarders. The injured child was a member of the resort’s Mighty Mites ski team, which consists of children ages 5 to 9.
Resort spokespersons confirmed that the skier suffered a leg injury and was transported from the top of the mountain to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for treatment.
Witnesses described seeing the child being “dragged” by the snowmobile in a heavily trafficked area where multiple ski routes intersect, contributing to congestion during the busy weekend.
Palisades Tahoe officials stated they are in contact with the child’s family and are offering support. An investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
