A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle on a rural road in Marin County on Friday afternoon, February 6, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on San Antonio Road in an unincorporated area of Marin County, about eight miles outside Petaluma and just south of the Marin-Sonoma county line.
Investigators said the bicyclist was riding a Trek bicycle southbound when they were struck by a Toyota Highlander traveling in the same direction.
CHP said the driver, identified as 31-year-old Kevin S.of Petaluma, called 911 to report the crash at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Authorities stated that the driver attempted CPR on the bicyclist before deputies from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office arrived. Deputies pronounced the victim dead at the scene about 15 minutes later. The bicyclist’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver was not injured and was not arrested. Authorities said drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the collision.
