[02-05-2025] Motorcyclist Injured in Lane-Splitting Crash on I-215 Near Murrieta Hot SpringsA motorcyclist sustained injuries after a lane-splitting crash on I-215 southbound near Murrieta Hot Springs in Riverside County on Wednesday morning, February 5, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. when a 2024 Yamaha RX street bike, ridden by a motorcyclist from Menifee, struck a BMW 330i while splitting lanes at about 70-75 mph. The BMW, driven by a 40-year-old Murrieta woman, was changing from the #2 to the #1 lane when the collision occurred.

The impact threw the motorcyclist into a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup in the #2 lane, driven by a 40-year-old woman from Moreno Valley. Emergency responders from Murrieta Fire & Rescue transported the rider to Inland Valley Hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The drivers of the BMW and Chevrolet were not injured.

The crash caused lane closures for about an hour as crews assisted the injured and removed the disabled motorcycle from the roadway.

CHP officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details are available at this time.
