[02-03-2026] Orange County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Multiple Vehicles on 5 Freeway in Anaheim

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by multiple vehicles on the 5 Freeway in Anaheim early Tuesday morning, February 3, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. when a pedestrian was reported walking in the southbound lanes near Gene Autry Way. 

Shortly afterward, officers received reports of a person down in the northbound lanes of the freeway.

CHP officers and Orange City Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead. 

Authorities stated that the pedestrian was struck by an initial vehicle and then hit by several additional vehicles. The identity of the victim has not been released, and officials did not provide information on why the person was in the roadway.

Investigators reported that the driver of the vehicle that initially struck the pedestrian was not injured and remained at the scene. 

The incident remains under investigation.
