Three people were killed, and two others were injured following a multi-vehicle collision in Imperial County on Monday evening, February 2, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 5:10 p.m. in the area of State Route 111 and McCabe Road.
CHP reported that a 2007 Lincoln MKZ was traveling northbound on SR-111, north of McCabe Road, when it veered left for reasons that have not yet been determined.
Authorities stated that the Lincoln crossed through the dirt center median and entered the southbound lanes, where it collided with a 2020 Nissan Rogue. A 2021 Honda Accord traveling southbound then crashed into the Lincoln.
CHP identified the deceased as the driver of the Lincoln, a 50-year-old man from El Centro, and the driver and passenger of the Nissan, a 57-year-old woman from El Centro and a 51-year-old woman from Calexico. Officials said both the driver and passenger of the Honda sustained minor injuries.
Authorities reported that all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. It was not immediately known whether impairment was a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
