[01-31-2026] Kern County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed After Hit-and-Run Crash on Ming Ave. in Bakersfield

A motorcyclist died after a hit-and-run crash in southwest Bakersfield on Saturday night, January 31, 2026.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded to the crash at around 10:44 p.m. in the 4500 block of Ming Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a male motorcyclist suffering from injuries that were initially described as non-life-threatening.

Police said the vehicle involved, described as a white sedan, left the area before officers arrived. 

A preliminary investigation determined that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Ming Avenue when the sedan made an unsafe turn, causing the crash.

The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital, where he later died Sunday morning. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release his identity at a later time. 

Authorities reported that officers later contacted a woman believed to be the driver of the white sedan around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026. The investigation into her involvement is ongoing.
