[01-30-2025] Lassen County, CA – Three People Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash On Highway 395

[01-30-2025] Three Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 395Three people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 395 in Lassen County early Thursday morning, January 30, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 5:40 a.m. north of Waldron Lane. A 46-year-old woman from Susanville was driving a 2014 Dodge southbound when she made an unsafe pass, failing to provide enough clearance for oncoming northbound traffic and resulting in a chain of collisions.

At the same time, a 67-year-old Janesville man driving a 2022 Toyota northbound attempted to avoid the Dodge. Both drivers veered onto the east-paved shoulder to avoid colliding with each other, but their vehicles collided head-on and came to a stop.

A 52-year-old man from Susanville pulled over onto the west paved shoulder and exited his vehicle to assist. While doing so, a 60-year-old woman from Janesville, driving a 2018 Ford northbound, struck the Good Samaritan before crashing into the side of the Dodge.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the drivers of the Dodge and Toyota, along with the man from Susanville, were pronounced dead. The Ford driver remained at the scene and waited for the authorities to arrive.

The CHP is investigating the incident and urges anyone with information to contact the Susanville CHP at (530) 252-1800.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
