A 47-year-old man identified as M. Senegal, a resident of San Francisco, died Sunday morning, January 26, 2025, after his vehicle collided with another in West Oakland.
The fatal crash occurred around 8:43 a.m. at the Linden Street and West Grand Avenue intersection. According to Oakland police, Senegal was driving a Volvo sedan northbound on Linden Street when he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by an eastbound Mitsubishi Montero SUV on West Grand Avenue.
Senegal was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the SUV, an Oakland resident, was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating with authorities.
It is currently unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
