[01-25-2026] Santa Clara County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Palo Alto

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Palo Alto on Sunday morning, January 25, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:00 a.m. on the Embarcadero Road off-ramp of Highway 101. 

CHP officers, firefighters, paramedics, and the Palo Alto Police Department responded to the scene, where the victim was found lying in the roadway. The vehicle involved was described as a Chevrolet SUV, possibly a Tahoe or Suburban.

Officials said the SUV likely sustained moderate to major damage to the front bumper, grille, and hood as a result of the collision. The driver involved did not remain at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
