[01-23-2026] San Luis Obispo County, CA – One Transported After Two-Vehicle Crash in Paso Robles

One person was transported to a hospital after a two-vehicle crash blocked South River Road and Niblick Road in Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo County, on Friday night, January 23, 2026.

According to authorities, the crash was reported around 7:48 p.m. at the intersection, where a Kia SUV collided with a compact sedan that was making a left turn. A passerby told officers it appeared the SUV driver may have been attempting to beat a red light. 

The driver of the Kia was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. About five people, including two young children, were inside the sedan. No injuries were reported among the sedan’s occupants, though the children were visibly shaken.

An off-duty sheriff’s deputy who was driving behind the sedan stopped to assist and helped check on the occupants of both vehicles. The deputy assisted in escorting the sedan’s occupants out of the vehicle after it stalled in the intersection and managed traffic until Paso Robles Police officers arrived. The SUV driver remained inside her vehicle until first responders reached the scene.

Police, fire crews, and an ambulance responded within minutes. Both vehicles were removed from the intersection by tow trucks, debris was cleared, and the roadway was reopened approximately 30 minutes later.

The crash remains under investigation.
