[01-22-2025] Acacia Fire In Santa Paula Contained, Hughes Fire Continues To GrowFirefighters responded to the Acacia Fire, which ignited Wednesday evening, January 22, 2025, in Santa Paula between the Santa Clara River and Highway 126.

According to initial reports, the blaze was first reported just before 7:00 p.m. at 600 Acacia Road. The fire quickly grew to approximately two acres with the potential to expand to five. However, forward progress had stopped by 7:30 p.m., according to radio dispatches.

Meanwhile, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the Hughes Fire in Castaic, which started around 10:30 a.m. the same day, had grown to nearly 9,400 acres by nightfall. As of writing, it’s already at 10,176 acres.

An evacuation order was issued in Ventura County for areas on the eastern side of Lake Piru up to the Los Angeles County line due to the Hughes Fire. Several additional areas remained under evacuation warnings, with authorities expecting to lift them by 7:00 a.m. Thursday.

Fire officials continue to monitor both incidents closely as containment efforts proceed.
