[01-22-2025] Los Angeles County, CA – Sepulveda Fire Burns 40 Acres Near 405 Freeway, Evacuation Warnings Lifted

[01-22-2025] Sepulveda Fire Burns 40 Acres Near 405 Freeway, Evacuation Warnings LiftedFirefighters successfully stopped the forward progress of the Sepulveda Fire, which burned approximately 40 acres near the 405 Freeway in Brentwood late Wednesday night, January 22, 2025. Cal Fire reported the blaze was 60% contained Thursday afternoon.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire was first reported shortly after 11:00 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway in Sherman Oaks. The blaze, fueled by winds of 8-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph, prompted an evacuation warning for residents south of the 1500 block of Casiano Road, north of Moraga Drive, east of Sepulveda Boulevard, and west of Chalon Road.

Around 250 LAFD personnel responded, with water-dropping helicopters assisting ground crews. By 1:00 a.m., visible flames were no longer present, and forward progress had been halted. The evacuation warnings were lifted by 2:00 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert around 12:15 a.m., closing the Getty Center Drive offramp on both sides of the 405 Freeway and the Sepulveda Boulevard offramp for southbound lanes. The closures were lifted by 4:30 a.m.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. This fire occurred just miles east of areas still under evacuation from the Palisades Fire, which burned over 23,000 acres and destroyed thousands of homes earlier in January.

Authorities continue to monitor the fire-affected areas, urging residents to stay informed through official updates.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
