[01-18-2026] Riverside County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Apparent Hit-and-Run on Vista Chino in Palm Springs

A pedestrian was killed in an apparent hit-and-run crash in Palm Springs early Sunday morning, January 18, 2026.

According to the Palm Springs Police Department, officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to a report of a person lying in the roadway at 1011 E. Vista Chino. 

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive adult in the eastbound lanes who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at approximately 3:40 a.m. The individual’s identity was not immediately released.

East Vista Chino, between North Hermosa Drive and North Avenida Caballeros, was temporarily closed for the investigation and reopened around 7:40 a.m. Police said no information on the suspect vehicle was immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.
