[01-05-2026] Butte County, CA – Police Seeking Suspect in Hit-and-Run Crash at First Ave. and Esplanade in Chico

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Chico on Monday, January 5, 2026.

According to the Chico Police Department, the crash occurred at 5:28 p.m. at the intersection of First Avenue and Esplanade. Surveillance footage shows that the driver ran a red light, collided with another vehicle, and then made a three-point turn before heading north on Esplanade.

Investigators revealed that the vehicle involved, a white 2015 Chrysler 200, is registered in Colusa. However, the registered owner is not the person seen in the footage.
