One person was killed following a multi-vehicle crash in West Covina on Thursday evening, January 1, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 6:34 p.m. on the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway east of Sunset Avenue.
Witnesses told CHP that the driver of a dark-colored sedan lost control, struck the center divider, and then swerved toward the right shoulder.
Another witness reported that three vehicles were involved, with two coming to rest in the slow lane and a third stopping on the gore point. One witness said smoke was visible coming from one of the vehicles and that the driver was not moving.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
